See the Full Study: Palm Center Commission Undermines Credibility of Transgender Service Ban

Screen_Shot_2014-03-13_at_3.32.32_PM.pngThe Palm Center today issued a study that concluded "there is no compelling medical reason for the ban" on transgender service in the American military, and urged the President to change the administrative rule by executive order.  Repealing the medical ban would lift medical rules affecting an estimated 15,000 currently serving personnel.  The impacts of the medical ban resemble the adverse effects Don't Ask, Don't Tell had on gay, lesbian and bisexual servicemembers, with the additional burden of preventing transgender personnel from getting helpful treatment.

For more information, see the full study, the Palm Center's press release, or Lisa Leff's Associated Press coverage of it.
