This is your chance to support our Cadets - we have waited a long time to be able to support gay and lesbian cadets who don’t have to hide. This is their first request of Knights Out. Please help us say YES to them - so that they can know that the Long Gray Line truly includes them. DONATE NOW to support a cadet.
So, this cadet comes up to Sarah Haag ‘03…
In the midst of Sept 20 celebrations, a yearling approached a member of our Board. He wanted to know how cadets could get a trip section to go to the OutServe Armed Forces Leadership Summit. This intrepid cadet has pulled together five to seven cadets who want to go. But we need your help.
The Summit
The OutServe conference, Oct 14-16 in Las Vegas, will focus will be on enhancing military readiness through encouraging an environment of respect with regard to sexual orientation and gender identity. It will be attended by senior leaders from organizations like HRC, SLDN, and NGLTF; members of the administration; veterans like Victor Fehrenbach, Jonathan Hopkins, Mike Almy, and Zoe Dunning; and many LGBT active-duty service members as well as active-duty allies.
We have gained approval
Over the past week, through hard work by the Board, some key allies at West Point, and the cadets themselves, we have gained approval for the trip section - PROVIDED we can fund it. That means an estimated $550 per person for airfare, $150 for discounted registration, which includes all meals, and $60/night for a shared room - a total of $760 per cadet. We also need to fund one or two OICs.
Sponsor a Cadet
So now I am appealing to you. Would you be willing to contribute $760 to sponsor a cadet to go to this landmark conference?
A contribution of $200, $100, even $50 will help us reach our goal.
Incentive: Army-Navy Tickets!
As an additional incentive, anyone who gives $100 or more will be entered in a drawing for two tickets to the 2011 Army-Navy game in Washington, DC!
Drop Dead Date: Friday, Sept 30 BUT… we will work to get them in until the last possible minute
We need your help NOW so that we can plan for the trip, which is less than three weeks away. Donate now.
