We expect the Marine Corps Commandant to testify to the House Armed Services Committee on Wednesday (and the Senate on Thursday) that DADT is working just fine. And that gays are disruptive to the force.
We also expect that we will get media requests for gay/lesbian Marines - and/or straight Marines who support repeal - to respond to General Conway’s statements.
Can you help me find Marines who are willing to answer the question “Is DADT working in the Marine Corps?” they can be named or anonymous, but I need:
- Rank
- Active or resigned/retired
- Kicked out under DADT? Y/N
- LGBT or straight? (OPTIONAL but will be helpful if media follows up)
Thanks for your help with this important effort.

I know this contact doesn’t do you any good, but I was compelled to send in my father’s name. We knew my son was likely gay from a very early age, long before he even knew what sexual affection (I prefer that term) was. He knew it wasn’t a choice and he was completely accepting.
Later in his life, before he died, he told me he hoped DADT would be repealed and that, like the civil rights act in the 1960s, after Brown v BOE and after people with disabilities began to get their own rights, that LGBTs would be next on the list.
This is a civil rights issue and he’d be proud of West Point for having Knights Out. I wish I could give you his contact information for many reasons, as you can imagine, but I wanted to tell you his story. We are all missing a great friend and ally.
Best wishes and I’m doing what I can.
