OBAMA COMMITMENT TO END “DON’T ASK, DON’T TELL” ENERGIZES MARCHING VETERANS AT NATIONAL EQUALITY MARCH
LT Choi says: “I heard the Commander in Chief give an order”

WEST POINT, NY, October 12, 2009 – A significant number of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender veterans joined Lieutenant Dan Choi at the National Equality March yesterday, after President Obama’s strongest statement yet on ending the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy.  The policy, encoded into law by Congress in 1993, prevents LGBT servicemembers from being truthful about their relationships.

DONATE NOW

In the wake of President Obama’s declaration that he “will end ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,’ ” Knights Out is embarking on a “4th Quarter” media blitz between now and the end of the year:

  • Dan Choi will be in Washington, New York, Miami, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle, Oregon, Maine, and more;
  • Our “Spokes-Platoon” members will be doing interviews and appearances in a number of media markets;
  • We are also working closely with Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Congressman Patrick Murphy to move the DADT repeal forward in Congress.

Our budget for this three-month effort is $25,000. Please donate NOW - we all know how the media can move on to another topic, and legislation can get bogged down. We MUST keep speaking out - and getting attention - to get this bill through.

DONATE NOW FOR THE “4TH QUARTER BLITZ”!
